Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) came into being on July 7, 1948 by an Act of the Constituent Assembly (Act No. XIV of 1948) as the first multipurpose river valley project of independent India on the lines of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) of USA. It  is now one of the premier power utilities in India engaged in Thermal / Hydel Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution, peripheral activities for a sustained and eco-friendly growth of the Valley Area spread across the states of West Bengal (Durgapur, Purulia & Bankura Districts) and Jharkhand (Bokaro, Dhanbad & Koderma Districts) with its Head Quarters in Kolkata.

DVC invites ONLINE applications from young and promising Indian Citizens having good academic record to join the organization for the following posts with details under Table I & II for its various Power Plants, Sub-stations, Offices, Hospitals spread  across the State of West Bengal & Jharkhand. Please read the advertisement carefully and ensure eligibility criteria before submitting On-Line application. The eligibility criteria regarding prescribed educational qualification, experience, age and other relevant details including modality as to how to apply are mentioned below :

1. Orthopedic Surgeon – 01 Post UR

Pay Scale : Rs.15600 – 39100/- Plus Grade Pay of  Rs.6600/-

Educational Qualification : Post Graduate Degree like MS or Diploma Like FRCS with D. Ortho/MS Ortho. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Orthopedic Surgery

Age Limit (as on 1st January 2013) : 45 years (Relaxations : SC/ST – 5 years, PWD – 10 years & OBC – 3 years)

2. Senior Chemist Grade – III

No. of Posts : 18 Posts (UR – 10,  OBC – 05,  SC – 02,  ST – 01)

Educational Qualification : 2 (Two) years’ full time M.Sc (Chemistry) with B.Sc (Hons) in Chemistry from a Recognised Institute/ College/University with at least 60% marks (For General/OBC) in aggregate of all years/Semesters.  Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST Candidates..

Pay Scale : Rs.15600 – 39100/- Plus Grade Pay of Rs.5650/-

Age Limit(as on 1st January 2013)  : 30 years (Relaxations : SC/ST – 5 years, PWD – 10 years & OBC – 3 years)

3. Management Trainee (P & A)

No. of Posts : 14 Posts (UR – 07,  OBC – 05,  SC – 01,  ST – 01)

Educational Qualification : Masters Degree/Post Graduate Diploma (at least 2 years full time) equivalent to Degree in HR Management/Personnel Management/Industrial Relations or MBA (at least 2 years full time with HR/Industrial Relations/Personnel Management as main subject) from AICTE approved Institutes/Universities with not less than 55% marks. 5% marks relaxable for SC & ST.

Pay Scale : Rs.15600 – 39100/- Plus Grade Pay of Rs.5650/-

Age Limit (as on 1st January 2013) : 30 years (Relaxations : SC/ST – 5 years, PWD – 10 years & OBC – 3 years)

4. Executive (Law)

No. of Posts : 02 Posts (UR – 01,  OBC – 01)

Educational Qualification : Degree in Law from a recognized University or a Premier Law School or College.  Must be enrolled Legal Practitioner & be proficient in Arbitration Proceedings, Drafting Deeds, Petitions, etc. and dealing with Court Cases.  Knowledge in Tax matters, Labour Laws and experience in conducting cases before Labour Courts/Tribunals essential.

Pay Scale : Rs.15600 – 39100/- Plus Grade Pay of Rs.5400/-

Age Limit (as on 1st January 2013) : 45 years (Relaxations : SC/ST – 5 years, PWD – 10 years & OBC – 3 years)

5. Junior Engineer (Electrical) Grade – II

No. of Posts : 164 Posts (UR – 86,  OBC – 39,  SC – 27,  ST – 12)

Educational Qualification : 3 (Three) years’ full time Diploma in Engineering/Technology in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering from any recognized College/Institute approved by AICTE with not less than 65% marks (General/OBC)/ 60% marks (SC/ST) taking average of all the semesters, irrespective of the weightage given to any particular Semester/ Year by the Institute /University.

Pay Scale : Rs.9300 – 34800/- Plus Grade Pay of Rs.4200/-

Age Limit (as on 1st January 2013) : 28 years (Relaxations : SC/ST – 5 years, PWD – 10 years & OBC – 3 years)

6. Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Grade – II

No. of Posts : 52 Posts (UR – 32,  OBC – 15,  ST – 05)

Educational Qualification : 3 (Three) years’ full time Diploma in Engineering/Technology in Mechanical Engineering from any recognized College/Institute approved by AICTE with not less than 65% marks (General/OBC) / 60% marks (SC/ST) taking average of all the semesters, irrespective of the weightage given to any particular Semester/Year by the Institute /University.

Pay Scale : Rs.9300 – 34800/- Plus Grade Pay of Rs.4200/-

Age Limit (as on 1st January 2013) : 28 years (Relaxations : SC/ST – 5 years, PWD – 10 years & OBC – 3 years)

7. Junior Engineer (C & I) Grade – II

No. of Posts : 11 Posts (UR – 04,  OBC – 04,  SC – 03)

Educational Qualification : 3 (Three) years’ full time Diploma in Engineering/Technology in  Electronics & Telecommunication / Instrumentation  Engineering from any recognized College/Institute approved by AICTE with not less than 65% marks (General/OBC) / 60% marks (SC/ST) taking average of all the semesters, irrespective of the weightage given to any particular Semester/Year by the Institute /University.

Pay Scale : Rs.9300 – 34800/- Plus Grade Pay of Rs.4200/-

8. Junior Engineer (Communications) Grade – II

No. of Posts : 13 Posts (UR – 08,  OBC – 04,  ST – 01)

Educational Qualification : 3 (Three) years’ full time Diploma in Engineering & Technology in Electronics & Telecommunication/ Telecommunication Engineering/Electronics & Communication Engineering  from any recognized College/Institute approved by AICTE with not less than 65% marks (General/OBC) / 60% marks (SC/ST) taking average of all the semesters, irrespective of the weightage given to any particular semester/year by the Institute/University.

Pay Scale : Rs.9300 – 34800/- Plus Grade Pay of Rs.4200/-

9. Junior Nurse Grade II

No. of Posts : 27 Posts (UR – 17,  OBC – 03,  SC – 05, ST – 02)

Educational Qualification : Higher Secondary (Science) / equivalent with Diploma in General Nursery and Midwifery.

Pay Scale : Rs.5200 – 20200/- Plus Grade Pay of Rs.2650/-

Age Limit(as on 1st January 2013)  : 32 years (Relaxations : SC/ST – 5 years, PWD – 10 years & OBC – 3 years)

10. Junior Pharmacist Grade – II

No. of Posts : 19 Posts (UR – 09,  OBC – 06,  SC – 04)

Educational Qualification : Higher Secondary (Science) / equivalent with 2 years’ Diploma Course in Pharmacy from recognized Institution.  Registration with Pharmacist Council of any State or Central.

Pay Scale : Rs.5200 – 20200/- Plus Grade Pay of Rs.1900/-

Age Limit (as on 1st January 2013) : 35 years (Relaxations : SC/ST – 5 years, PWD – 10 years & OBC – 3 years)

Important : i) Where % of marks is not awarded by the Institute/University and only Grades (CGPA/SGPA) are awarded, the same should be converted to the exact equivalent % of marks as per their University/Institutions formula.  In case the results are shown in Grade Point but the University/Institution does not provide any formulae to convert SGPA/CGPA into equivalent % of marks, candidates of such University/Institutions would not be eligible to apply.

ii) Candidates from Universities/Institutes awarding degree based on ratings/ grades other than numerical marks (i.e.CGPA/GPA/any other form), please note that if the equivalent aggregate percentage of marks is not mentioned in the mark sheet/ certificate, candidates are required to get a letter from the head of the Institute/ Controller of Examination of the University, stating clearly, the methodology of conversion of the grades into percentage (conversion formula) and the numerical marks equivalent to their rating/grades.

Note : For claiming any of the relaxations, SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-Servicemen category candidates have to submit attested copy of relevant latest certificate in GOI format.

Application fee : i) For S.No. 1 – S.No. 4 : Rs.300/- for General and OBC Candidates ii) for S.No.5 – to S.No.10 : Rs.200/- for General and OBC Candidates (NO fee for SC/ST/PH/DVC Employees) – Through a Specific challan – to be deposited in any Branch of State bank of India in a specially opened DVC Account No. 31728459593 (Power Jyoti Scheme ) at  SBI,CAG branch, Kolkata(9998) on behalf of DVC.

How to Apply : Interested Candidates have to apply Online. After successful submission of the online data including uploading of scanned photo, a Unique Registration/Form Number will be generated and thereafter candidates need to take a printout of the application so made. Printout without system-generated number will not be accepted in any case.

Candidates are advised to take 2(two) nos.  print outs of the Registration Slip and send one of them after pasting his/her recent passport size photographs (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm)  at appropriate place and getting it self attested putting his/her signature at the allocated place and putting his/her LTI on the place allocated in the Registration Slip.  The thumb impression must be clear and complete.  The other copy should be kept with the candidate for reference.

The Print Out along with necessary relevant enclosures (Please refer the pdf for a list of enclosures ; link given below) should be sent by Ordinary Post only to The Advertiser (DVC), Post Box. No. 10543, New Delhi-110067. The envelope should be superscribed with the name & code of the post applied for along with category (SC/ST/OBC etc).
