AAI Chennai Southern Region Recruitment of Junior Assistants (Fire Service) 2013

Applications are invited from the candidates who are Domicile of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry and Lakshadweep Island for the post of Junior Assistant (Fire Service)/NE-4 at various airports in the above states in Southern Region. Further details are given below :

Name of the Post : Junior Assistants (Fire Service)

No. of Posts : 244 + 01 (SRD Vacancy)  (UR – 122,  OBC – 78,  SC – 22,  ST – 23)

Pay Scale : Rs.12500 – 28500

Other Allowances : On appointment, besides the basic pay of Rs. 12,500/- they are eligible for VDA, HRA, perquisites under cafeteria approach @ 46% and benefits such as CPF, Gratuity, medical facilities, Leave encashment etc.

Qualification : a) 10th Pass + 3 years’ approved regular Diploma in Mechanical/ Automobile/Fire with minimum 50% marks OR  b) 12th Pass (Regular Study) with 50% marks

Driving License : i) Valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License OR  ii)Valid Medium Vehicle License issued at least one year before as on 30/04/2013 OR  iii) Valid LMV License issued at least two years before as on 30th April 2013.

Note : In case of (ii) & (iii), on qualifying the written test the candidate shall be informed in writing to produce a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License at the time of Driving Test. In case, the candidate fails to do so then he shall not be allowed to take Driving Test and be straightway disqualified for the further selection procedure.

Age Limit : 30 years as on 30th May 2013 (Relaxation : upto 5 years of SC/ST Candidates & upto 3 years for OBC Candidates)

Desirable : Due weightage shall be given to a candidate possessing any one or more (subject to maximum limit of the following) :
a) Computer Science as subject at 12th class level;
b) NCC ‘B’ Certificate
c) Relevant experience in an aviation/regular/industrial fire service.
d) Basic Fire Fighting Training Course from AAI Fire Training Establishment
e) Sub Fire Officer Course from National Fire Service College, Nagpur

Physical Fitness :

i) Eye Sight :
a) Distance Vision  – 6/6 At Both Eyes Without Glasses.
b) Near Vision  – N5 In Both Eyes Without Glasses.
c) Colour Vision  – Should be Normal as determined by Ischihara’s charts.
ii) Height – Not less than 167 cm.
iii) Chest – 81 Cm normal. Minimum expansion 5 Cms
iv) Weight – Not less than 55 Kg

Note : Must not have undergone major operation by virtue of which his physical fitness to work in Fire Service has been impaired. Should be capable of undergoing physical strain for prolonged periods.

Selection Process : The candidates will have to appear for written test, physical measurement, driving test, endurance test, and interview. The candidates will be allowed to appear in driving test / physical endurance test subject to passing the written test. Appointment to the post of Junior Assistant (FS) is subject to fulfilling eligibility conditions and successful passing of Basic Training Course for a period of four months. During training, incumbent is entitled for stipend as per the rules.

Application fee : General and OBC Candidates – Rs.100/- (Women/SC/ST Candidates are exempted from fee Payment) – Demand Draft drawn in favour of Airports Authority of India, payable at Chennai.
